NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana’s Treasure Chest riverboat casino is docking for good with a brick-and-mortar location. The onshore location will offer 47,000 square feet of gaming space including plenty of blackjack options at the live dealer tables or electronic gaming machines.
The riverboat will officially close right before midnight on Saturday, June 1. A week later, residents and visitors can go to the new Treasure Chest casino on land when they open at 8 a.m. CT on June 8.

The new land-based casino nearly doubles the gaming space of the 24,000 square feet provided on the riverboat. More than 900 slot machines and 24 live dealer tables will be available, as the onshore casino expects to be the hottest Louisiana blackjack spot in New Orleans.
Outside of live dealer blackjack, visitors can enjoy the electronic blackjack machines scattered throughout the casino. If you’re worried about finding an open table at the grand opening, there’s always a spot open when you play at Bovada online.
There will also be a sports bar and grille, a steakhouse, and more restaurants as a part of the upgraded casino. Treasure Chest will become just the fourth land-based casino in Louisiana since the Louisiana Gaming Control Board amended gaming laws to allow brick-and-mortar developments.
Prior to that change, many Louisiana riverboat casinos got destroyed in hurricanes. The change allows Treasure Chest to invest in a brick-and-mortar casino development since its located within 1,200 feet of their original barge.
