- WarHorse Casino Omaha plans to open its full casino in August.
- WarHorse has operated out of a temporary casino in Lincoln, Nebraska since Sept. 2022.
- The permanent casino location will feature 20 table games for blackjack and more, as well as 800 slot machines and a sportsbook.
OMAHA, Neb. – The highly-anticipated permanent WarHorse Casino Omaha location expects to open on August 6, 2024. Nebraska blackjack players have enjoyed the temporary WarHorse casino location since 2022, but will soon enjoy over 900 gaming positions at the permanent location.
Lynne McNally, chief executive officer of the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (NHBPA), announced the opening date pending regulation sign-offs from the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission. The $250 million gambling facility will feature 20 table games, 800 slot machines, parimutuel wagering, a sportsbook, restaurant, bar, and expansive parking garage.
Construction Also Progresses At WarHorse Casino Lincoln
WarHorse is also building a casino at Lincoln’s Race Course which is a similar size investment. Despite having less Nebraska blackjack options and fewer slots (430) in a smaller casino, WarHorse Casino Lincoln will have a 220-room hotel and a steakhouse.
The temporary WarHorse Casino in Lincoln only has 400 slot machines but generated $51.5 million gross gaming revenue last year. Nebraska expects to earn plenty of gaming revenue once the two WarHorse permanent locations open in August and at the end of fall.
Since every Nebraska gaming facility must be located next to an active race track, Horsemen’s Park has one scheduled live race on Sept. 29 while Lincoln Race Course has four racing days scheduled for Sept. 20, 21, 27, and 28. Aside from hosting live dealer blackjack, these WarHorse casinos will also offer live and simulcast racing.
